What will I learn?
You will be set work according to your skills and knowledge. These projects will help you to increase your skills in designing and making jewellery. During this course you will be taught basic and more advanced skills of jewellery making. These skills include use of tools, how to use workshop equipment, skills needed for designing and crafting jewellery. You will have the opportunity to put these skills into practise by making pieces, first from copper, or brass then sterling silver. You will learn: to understand and follow health and safety guidelines, how to solder, pierce metals, make links and findings, surface decorations with hammers or a rolling mill and finishing techniques.


Entry Requirements
This course is designed for beginners as well as learners with prior knowledge. If you have previous experience and knowledge in silversmithing and jewellery making but feel you need a refresher, then you will benefit from this course. Projects are set according to skill level and learners will work at their own pace. For health & safety reasons, it is essential that you are able to stand and have good eyesight. Jewellery making is very physical and requires excellent manual dexterity and concentration.

On completion of the course, you may progress onto a course designed for those with more advanced skills and experience. Redbridge Institute offers a range of jewellery making courses available on several different days and times, as well as master classes in specific techniques.
