More information about this Course

How will the course benefit me?
These workshops are designed for experienced pottery learners who are able to work independently without instruction or guidance from a tutor. It provides an opportunity for experienced pottery learners to work on projects of their own choice at their own pace. Unlike a traditional course, you can come to the workshops as often or as infrequently as you choose. You can come for the whole workshop, or pop in for an hour or two – whatever suits you. You are essentially paying for access to the studio and our facilities. Because there is no tuition, we are able to offer these workshops at a lower cost than a taught course. Costs for firing are the same as for our taught courses.

Career Opportunities
Redbridge Institute offers pottery courses on several different days and times. There will be information given by the technician as to what other options are available to you.???

Entry Requirements
The workshops are suitable for those who have undertaken several pottery courses and do not require advice, guidance or instruction on how to create forms in clay, apply glazes and prepare their work for firing.

Additional Material Cost
For fired pieces, the firing cost is £2 per 1 pound of clay. You will need suitable clothing and you are welcome to bring your own tools.

Health & Safety
Learners MUST follow health & safety guidelines. Appropriate clothing should be worn. It is essential that you fully clean all tools all your work area.

How will the course be delivered?
The workshops run on Tuesday evenings, 18.00pm – 21.00pm. All workshops are 4 weeks. You can come to as many or as few sessions as you wish. You can drop in for an hour or two, or come for the whole workshop. There will be a technician in the studio throughout the sessions, but please note the technician’s role is purely supervisory and does not include providing advice or guidance on making, glazing or firing.
