How will the course benefit me?
This course is designed to help you identify the reasons why you might lack self-confidence, generally or in specific situations. You will learn techniques to help you feel calm and confident. Learn how to explore and change negative thoughts and develop positive thinking. You will learn how a range of factors including tone of voice, body language and habitual thought patterns can help or hinder your self-confidence.
By the end of the course you should be able to:
1. Identify how your own negative thinking might be affecting your confidence and develop habits of positive thinking.
2. Use techniques of positive thinking to approach new and challenging situations with confidence.
3. Apply positive coping strategies to manage setbacks, challenges and criticism. <p></p>

What will I learn?
You will learn about common barriers to self-confidence and how specific techniques can help you overcome these barriers. You will learn about healthy coping strategies and how to respond to setbacks, criticisms and challenges without losing confidence in yourself. Learn about positive thinking and develop techniques to approach work and personal life with greater confidence in your own abilities. <p></p>

This is a stand-alone course but you may be interested in exploring other personal development courses within the Institute or elsewhere. <p></p>

Assessment / Exam
The tutor will help you set personal learning goals at the start of the course. You will receive feedback on your progress during the course. Achievement will be assessed against the learning outcomes at the end of the course. <p></p>

Entry Requirements
This course is open to anybody who wishes to improve their self confidence. You need to be willing to reflect (ie. think about and explore aspects of your own thinking and behaviour) and to engage in individual, pair and group activities.<p></p>

Aside from a pen and paper there are no additional costs.<p></p>

How will the course be delivered?
The course is classroom-based. You will learn in a group with others. The sessions will comprise a mix of tutor presentation, individual, pair and group activity and individual reflection. You may be required to complete some written work outside of the classroom. <p></p>
