COVID-19 In order to ensure the safety of staff and learners, the way we can provide courses in the Autumn Term has changed. See details below. There may be further changes if Government and Public Health advice changes. In these challenging times, the safety of learners and staff is our highest priority. We are therefore introducing a range of measures to protect every member of the learning community at Gearies. These include strict limits on class sizes to ensure social distancing can be maintained within classrooms. There will also be additional procedures and limitations around the use of entrances and exits, corridors and other public areas.

How will the course benefit me?
Learners enjoy this course and often return. The tutor encourages a friendly supportive environment where you will be working with washes, glazes and wet-on-wet techniques. The themes will range from still life, landscape and seasonal subject matter. You could be working from objects or photographs, sometimes these will be provided by the tutor, sometimes by the learner. You will gain in confidence and skill level and it will be stimulating and enjoyable.

What will I learn?
This 15-week course is an introduction to painting in watercolour. Learners will practise the basic techniques of watercolour and also improve their drawing skills. Basic watercolour techniques will be taught, such as washes, glazes and "wet-on-wet", with projects that could include wildlife, landscape and still life. Colour-mixing will be included.
