How will the course benefit me?

Entry Requirements

What will I learn?
How to use the EQUAL online learning platform to complete tasks and assessments. You may also learn how to use online video conferencing. Section 1: Roles and responsibilities for health, safety and welfare at work In this section, you will develop your understanding of employers’ and employees’ duties relating to health, safety and welfare. It covers the requirements for training and competence in the workplace and how to effectively communicate health and safety information. Section 2: How risk assessments contribute to health and safety You will cover the meaning of the terms 'hazard' and 'risk', how risk assessments are carried out and how they contribute to a reduction in workplace accidents and ill health. Section 3: Identifying and controlling risks from common workplace hazards This module will enable you to identify hazards in the workplace, understand how hazards can cause harm or damage and learn the risk controls for common hazards. Section 4: Procedures for responding to accidents and incidents at work In this section, you will cover the common causes of workplace accidents and ill health, the actions to take following an incident at work and the importance of recording incidents, accidents and ill health accurately.

How will the course be delivered?
You must have access to the internet and a suitable device, preferably a PC or laptop to enable you to access the EQUAL online learning platform. You will be given access to online workbooks and materials which will take you step by step through the course and help you to develop independent learning skills. You will be supported by an experienced assessor who will contact you at the beginning of the course and provide feedback on the assessments you complete via the EQUAL online learning platform, at various intervals throughout the course. You will receive email reminders from the EQUAL platform when assessments are due. All evidence is submitted through a web-based portfolio.

How is this course assessed?
You will complete online evidence demonstrating how you meet the course criteria. The average time to complete this online course is 2- 6 hours you may however complete in more or less time. It will depend on your commitment to the course. You will receive instant feedback from auto marked assessments.
