What will I learn?
How to use the EQUAL online learning platform to complete tasks and assessments. You may also learn how to use online video conferencing. How to use Google Education suite (email, online video conferencing, uploading coursework). Develop understanding of basic administration concepts and practices Review essential knowledge for daily and more complex administration tasks Learn business and administration national occupational standards Unit 1: Principles of providing administrative services This unit will develop your knowledge of a range of administrative support tasks as well as meeting types, different mail services and how to organise travel and accommodation. This unit also covers the impact of delivering poor customer service. Unit 2: Principles of business document production and information management This unit will provide you with an understanding of how to prepare and distribute business documents and identify how information is managed in business organisations. Unit 3: Understand communication in a business environment Within this unit you will study written and verbal business communication, including identifying appropriate body language and tone of voice when communicating verbally. Unit 4: Understand employer organisations This unit will provide you with an understanding of different organisational structures and the differences between private, public and voluntary sectors. You will also cover the internal and external influences on organisations and why change in the business environment is important. Unit 5: Understand how to develop working relationships with colleagues Within this unit you will look at the principles of effective team working, as well as what is expected of a ‘buddy’. Unit 6: Understand how to carry out business administration tasks This unit will provide you with the knowledge of how to deal with incoming and outgoing mail, reception services, diary systems management, event organisation and systems for financing administration roles. You will get the opportunity to apply this to your current or potential future workplace. Unit 7: Understand how to prepare text Within this unit you will gain an understanding of how to create text from recorded notes as well as knowledge of organisational procedures for storing confidential information.

Assessment / Exam
You will complete an online portfolio of evidence demonstrating how you meet the qualification criteria. The average time to complete this online course is 12 weeks you may however complete in fewer weeks or it may take you longer. It will depend on your commitment to the course. You will however be expected to complete all assessments within the academic year you commence the course in.

Entry Requirements
Spoken and written English at Level 2 and be a confident IT user - experience in using web-based portfolios would be beneficial. You will also need to be be motivated to undertake personal study and homework of at least 3 - 5 hours each week and be willing to participate in occasional online tutorials if required. You will need an email address to use the EQUAL online learning platform.

To fully participate in this FULLY ONLINE COURSE you will need: - a PC/laptop/tablet with a fully updated browser (preferably Google Chrome) - your device will need a microphone and preferably a camera - you will need access to a reliable internet connection.

Depending on the course you are enrolled for you may need a private space while participating in the online part of the course.

How will the course be delivered?
You must have access to the internet and a suitable device, preferably a PC or laptop to enable you to access the EQUAL online learning platform. You will be given access to online workbooks and materials which will take you step by step through the course and help you to develop independent learning skills. You will be supported by an experienced assessor who will contact you at the beginning of the course and provide feedback on the assessments you complete via the EQUAL online learning platform, at various intervals throughout the course. You will receive email reminders from the EQUAL platform when assessments are due. All evidence is submitted through a web-based portfolio.
