Bursary Funds: Application Form

The Bursary fund is there to support you with childcare, travel, materials and equipment necessary to complete your course related work.

Eligibility

You must have a household income of less than £26,000 gross per year or in receipt of a means tested benefit such as one of the following. Proof of income must be dated within 3 months of application.

  • Income Support
  • Jobseekers Allowance
  • Employment Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Support under part IV of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • Guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
  • Child / Working Credits with an annual gross income of £26,000 or less
  • Universal Credit

Support with Travel, Connectivity, Materials, Compulsory Equipment

Support for connectivity and or equipment will only be provided if it is a compulsory part of your course.  You may be eligible to receive a contribution towards travel based on how far you live from the campus.

Advanced Learner Loan Bursary

You can apply for a bursary as long as your loan has been approved and you meet the eligibility criteria set out above.  In addition, evidence of your loan approval will need to be uploaded on your application.

Deadline

There are no deadlines but you are strongly advised to apply online as soon as you start your course. Applications will be assessed on a first come first served basis subject to availability of funds.

20+ Childcare

If you are a parent who is aged 20+ and your household income is less than £26,000 per year you may qualify for support towards childcare whilst you study. The Institute will contribute or make full payment of up to £120 per week, term time only (with a maximum of two children) towards the cost of private OFSTED registered childcare, subject to eligibility and availability of funds. Payment is made direct to the childcare provider.

What do I need to upload?

To evidence your household income you must upload evidence for all types of income that apply

This should include the total income for all adults that live in your household. Household income can be from full time work, part time work, self-employment, benefits, pension, or a combination of these. You will need to provide evidence of your household income

  • I understand that if I withdraw from my course I may have to pay back all or some of the monies awarded to me or paid on my behalf.
  • I understand that if my application for financial assistance is unsuccessful or successful in part, I will be liable for all outstanding fees related to my course(s) and it is my responsibility to pay these outstanding fees upon request.
  • Applications are only seen by staff involved in the delivery of these funds. Occasionally it may be necessary for additional supporting information to be sought from other college staff in order for a decision to be made. We are unable to assess your application if it is incomplete or missing the relevant evidence, consequently, this will delay a decision.

Once all funds have been allocated, no further requests can be supported.

Students are advised that they can appeal to the Assistant Principal within ten-days of receipt of the letter notifying them of the decision if they are dissatisfied..
